Janelle Atencio-McCathron is an artist from Del Norte in the San Luis Valley, located in scenic southwestern Colorado. Growing up within the unique culture and venerable traditions of the native peoples of the area, she early on developed a unique perspective on life and art. The theme of strength and resilience that helped her people survive for hundreds of years is a common theme in her art and outlook on life. She currently lives with her daughter, husband, and cat in Northwestern Oregon.
